WHAT WE DO
Quinte United Immigrant Services was founded in 1986 by Susan Walker. It is now funded by the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the United way of Quinte. We offer a large variety of services to newcomers who have arrived in Canada.
OUR MISSION
QUIS will guide those newcomers isolated by culture and language in the Quinte Area through the process of settlement and adjustment.
QUIS will encourage the community to respect the diversity of immigrants by promoting recognition of the value of racial and cultural differences and facilitate the integration and participation of newcomers into the social, economic and cultural life of the community.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To operate as a charitable organization to prevent and relieve the distress experienced by immigrants settling in Canada.
- To assist immigrants in locating afforable housing, furnishings and other related items.
- To locate agencies and services to meet the needs of immigrants.
- To cooperate and collaborate with and assist other organizations concerned with the general welfare of immigrants in Canada.
