On June 4th, QUIS will be hosting an open house. Members of the general public are invited to visit us and take part in our ethnic potluck featuring foods from around the globe. The event will take place from 4:30-7:30pm.
 

Annual Events and Activities

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

March 21st was declared  an International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by the United Nations. QUIS holds an annual event to create awareness of and respect for diversity in our community through education, song, music, dance and other activities.

QUIS Open House

This Springtime event is a day when the community can come and meet the staff and volunteers of QUIS, enjoy games, a BBQ and learn more about our services and activities in the community. Click here for pictures of the most recent event.

Summer ESL Conversation Circles

We encourage newcomers to develop English through our conversation circles. These are usually held during the summer months by our volunteers one day a week, in a group or through one-on-one tutoring because practice makes perfect. We try to have a circle for adults as well as one for children with lots of fun crafts, reading stories and learning the basics for preparing a play.

Citizenship Ceremony

A very special event for QUIS is the Citizenship Ceremony held on Canada Day. We  hosted this event, which was held in Belleville for the first time in 6 years. QUIS partnered with the Buy Locally Owned Group and had a very successful day. Click here pictures of the most recent event.

And, QUIS is once again looking at hosting the Citizenship Ceremony in 2007! Yes, we are a very busy team.

Children's Holiday Celebration

When the Holiday Season rolls around QUIS invites parents and children to join us in celebration of the season. The celebration features a Holiday Craft Corner, a special dinner with dessert, and of course, Santa Claus who gives out lots of toys, candy and surprises to the children.
