About Us
In June of 1986, Quinte United Immigrant Services
founding President Susan
Walker was granted funding for immigrant settlement by the government of Canada.
After contacting some local community services agencies a committee of six people was formed and
Quinte United Immigrant Services was born as a not-for-profit, charitable organization incorporated in the Province of
Ontario with its office located in Belleville.
During the following years, the agency has grown to provide a variety
of services to newcomers to the Quinte area. Also, we have helped
the federal government in situations such as the influx of
refugees from Kosovo, and are the leading agency in anti-racism
work in our region. Quinte United
Immigrant Services also has representation on a number of area
boards and agencies such as the Quinte Ethnic Festival.
In May of 2002, we relocated to our current home
in the Quinte Community Resource
Centre, the former Queen Mary School.
In September 2003, thanks to a grant provided by the Ontario Trillium
Foundation, we were able to renovate our office where we can provide better
services to our clients.
We are very thankful to our volunteer Board of
Directors:
And a very special thanks to all of our
funders including our members and private donors:
